Perhaps you would like to make your own individual discoveries in the Swiss National Park, without the assistance of a technical device?
In this case, we recommend our classic nature trail in the Pass dal Fuorn area – a great ramble for families aimed at studying nature. Along the trail 45 information boards provide adults and children with details and explanations of what can be seen close by. Young and old are encouraged to observe wildlife and surroundings and to exchange their experiences with one another.
The nature trail begins near the Hotel Parc Naziunal Il Fuorn and follows route 17. The trail is easily accessible from Zernez or Val Müstair by Postbus. For an enjoyable and relaxing journey of discovery you should allow half a day.
The brochure “Along the nature trail” contains texts and illustrations as seen on the information boards along the trail, as well as supplementary information. At a price of CHF 9.-, it is available in Romansch, French, Italian and English, and can be bought at the National Park Centre in Zernez, or via our shop online.
As of summer 2010, visitors can find the Senda da l’uors near the Schmelzra Museum. This bear discovery trail is the result of a joint project carried out by the WWF, Scuol Tourismus and the Swiss National Park. At 9 interactive stations young and old can discover all sorts of interesting facts about brown bears. The whole experience takes about two hours, at the end of which visitors will be sure to know a lot more about our version of Baloo and his astonishing skills.
In order to facilitate access and encourage visitors to use public transport, the additional PostBus stop Ravitschana has been added. The Bear exhibition at the Museum Schmelzra right next door is the perfect addition and makes the family outing not a whale, but a bear of a time.
Our Champlönch children’s trail offers a completely new experience.
Equipped with the Swiss National Park app, available free of charge for your iPhone or Android device, and the children’s trail booklet with audio CD, you hike from car park 1 at Ova Spin (P1 Champlönch bus stop) towards Il Fuorn (hiking routes 12/13, Postbus stop P6 Il Fuorn). On the way, you will hear an acoustic signal at 10 different locations. A figure or an animal appears on the display and tells you an interesting story that is directly related to the surroundings. The Champlönch booklet is available at the National Park Centre in Zernez (phone 081 851 41 41) or from our online Shop.
You can see the woodpecker rings on the tree, but the birds are missing. These are depicted in the booklet and their actions are explained using audio texts. This brings the environment to life even more. You can also travel back in time and experience what it was like on Alp Grimmels, for example, before the National Park was founded. With the help of the CD, you can listen to the texts of the digital hiking guide again and again at home.
Booklet with audio CD: CHF 15.–
The project was realised by Zurich University of the Arts department Scientific Visualisation and Cast (now called Knowledge Visualisation) in cooperation with the National Park. The project was sponsored by Pro Natura and Swisscom.
