Location
The Swiss National Park is located in the south-east of Switzerland, in the Engadin and Münstertal valleys. Together with the Regional Nature Park Biosfera Val Müstair and parts of the municipality of Scuol, it forms the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Engiadina Val Müstair.
Basis and impressions
In the Swiss National Park, nature is just allowed to be nature – really wild.
Humans remain in the background and are merely witnesses of the evolution that contributes so greatly to the incomparable character of this habitat. The fact that it was possible to found a National Park in 1914 shortly before the outbreak of the First World War is remarkable.

Organisation and team
The Swiss National Park is a foundation with the Federal National Park Commission (FNPC) as its supreme decision-making body. The area of the park belongs to the four park municipalities. The administrative headquarters and thus the workplace for about 50 National Park employees is the Chastè Planta-Wildenberg in Zernez, where the National Park Centre is also located.

Partners and networks
The Swiss National Park maintains partnerships with parks in Switzerland and beyond. It is a member of the Grisons Parks Association and works with the Swiss Parks Network on a national level. The network now includes 20 parks of various categories in Switzerland. On a local level, networking with the adjacent UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Engiadina Val Müstair is central. Cooperation and ecological networking within the Alps is an important concern. The Alpine Network of Protected Areas ALPARC plays a key role here.
