What use do ungulates (red deer, chamois and ibex) make of their habitat? What impact do they have on it and how do their populations develop?
Ungulate research in the National Park has a long history. Population counts have been carried out since the 1920s. Extensive ungulate projects began in the 1990s. With the assistance of telemetry and GIS the movement of individual animals can be recorded and charted. Researchers hope results will provide information regarding the migration patterns of ungulate populations. In close collaboration with other fields, the influence of ungulates on other populations is being investigated.
