Glacier crowfoot is a plant of arctic origin and grows exclusively on acid soils, such as on the Macun plateau.

It favours altitudes above 2300m. The pink tint on the petals varies in intensity, or may be absent.

Found on the Finsteraarhorn, at 4270 m above sea level, glacier crowfoot holds the altitude record for flowering plants. It is a super-performer – able to photosynthesize a lot more efficiently than plants growing at low altitudes.
