Uzh student research project on Hiking Trail Maintenance

Situation de départ

We aim to understand who is in charge of assessing trail safety, how maintenance is performed, and how duties are assigned. We aim to create a presentation that provides a clear overview of how environmentally friendly trail infrastructure is guaranteed and what information all hikers should know before entering a trail.

Objectif

Our project will investigate how hiking trails are maintained, created, and regulated within protected areas like the Swiss National Park. We will conduct multiple interviews with professionals in nature conservation and protection to seek insight into the matter. Our project will also explore how sustainability laws and protected zones play a role in the methods used to maintain trails.
